The IWC ref.3705 Replica was the first Fliegerchronograph to be fitted with a ceramic case. It resulted in a watch that had a very clean and utilitarian look.
IWC now launches the pilot’s chronograph “Tribute 3705”, giving this historic watch a new lease of life. It is very similar to the previous product, but there are some important differences. The case of the original watch is made of zirconia ceramics, while the subsequent models are made of cerium.
This material was developed by Swiss IWC Replica, and its base is made of a special titanium alloy. After machining, it will be placed in a furnace for firing. There, the surface of the material transforms into a surface with characteristics similar to ceramics. The chronograph button and pin buckle made of this unique material are also the first for IWC.
The inside of the case is also different from the original Fliegerchronograph ref. 3705, which is powered by the famous Valjoux 7750 movement. The pilot’s replica watch Chronograph Edition “Tribute to 3705” has IWC’s internal calibre 69380.
The unique movement structure of these two brands combines a two-way pawl winding system and a column wheel to accurately operate the chronograph. Like the original, this tribute has a diameter of 41mm and is equipped with a black calfskin strap, so the icon is truly continued in its modern predecessor.
